but this just skims the surface of why people bay for war, and become blood thirsty societies (for a small period).

the poor slob on the farm may not want a war.. but a govt official (even a low ranking one) will want one. especially when they can have those poor slobs fight on their behalf.

why? Its simple. Its economics. When economy becomes unsustainable.., when the upper/middle class sees no tangible improvement in their social/economic status,  war is a tool to drum up the society's collective libido to stratosphere. and get the economy working on overdrive, transfering the riches to the upper/middle class.

it also feeds a deep seated existential need which, for many, never extends beyond their country. So drum up a war, mock people who call for more restraint.. if possible, even kill them. go for war. get a lot of poor people killed. finally declare victory, and start building monuments for the generals who died, and forget about the poor jawans.

all this love for country is the fakest fake thing I notice in upper middle class people. just keep your joke to yourself. stop using that joke to kill other people.
