Is there a big line at TDP’s exit gate?

It looks as if the line is too long at the Telugu Desam Party’s exit gate with leader after the leader leaving the party day in and day out. The exodus is all set to cause a heart pain to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu ahead of the general elections. He is already feeling the pain with the exit of two MPs and three MLAs. The talk in the political corridors say that there are more exits from the party in the days to come.

The TDP had lost two of its MPs, Avanthi Srinivas from Anakapalli and P Ravindra Babu from Amalapauram. The two have joined the Opposition YSR Congress. They have also blasted Chandrababu Naidu on promoting one single caste in the State. These statements were unusual from the leaders when they cross the fence. Those who switch over loyalties accuse their former leaders of corruption and favouritism. These allegations are common and accepted in the political corridors. But the statements that both the MPs made were a cause of concern for the people and the TDP as well. It is alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was favouring just one caste and all the benefits are given to that particular caste. This allegation will cause dearly for the TDP at the elections. There is a general feeling that only one caste had benefited in the last four years and other castes are feeling uncomfortable. They feel neglected in politics and development too and the statement of these two MPs would add to these general feeling. If this feeling spreads wide with the backing of more leaders coming out of the TDP, it would cost dearly for the party in terms of electoral benefits.

The TDP had also lost three MLAs so far – two for the YSR Congress and one for the Jana Sena. There are more than a dozen MLAs from the party who are ready to leave and this might happen in the next two weeks. Even some of the Ministers in Chandrababu Naidu cabinet are looking at the YSR Congress and they might take a call once the general election notification is out. It is to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu would handle this crisis and retain his power.
