Your immediate supervisor is the only person who can make all the difference - if you are going to be happy or not at the workplace (not the big boss, not the company). There are workplace policies to report against harassment, politics, favoritism, fraud, waste, abuse, etc. Document all events and communication before reporting. Remember, behaviors come in patterns.

I don’t allow business/users/product owner to specify design aspects or “how” to implement solutions or resolve issues - they are allowed to specify only “what” they want done. I tell them, “I’m the tailor and a specialist - and so, let me do the stitching”. Also remember, a scrum master is nobody’s boss - s/he is just another team member.

Over the years, I’ve learnt that female supervisors have worked out well and better for me so far. Males are a bit arrogant but did not have any issues with them either. If you have kickass skills, no one can pull your strings in this country. This is not India.

My current supervisor is a female and she is an ANGEL.
