BlacKkKlansman executive producer Matthew A. Cherry's short film Hair Love has been picked up by Sony Pictures Animation after a successful Kickstarter campaign which launched in 2017. Inspired by viral videos of Black fathers trying to do their daughters' hair, the story has also been made into a book to be released in May.
