The very first parameter in the human development index is Infant Morality rate. It used to be almost 40 deaths per thousand before 2014 and now the number has come down to 28 per thousand. Even 28 is shameful but we are working towards it now...

A good amount has been invested in Maternity care...even rural area hospitals are now in better shape than earlier. Poor people now visit government hospitals for childbirth and that's a sign of welcome.

We can proudly say we are progressing.

Very unfortunate that we had a regime change in 2014 and lot of things changed after that but yes, a very serious attempt was made at imparting skills.
