I heard this from multiple people. Why is it always a spiritual path? Why can't the purpose of life be more meaningful, like finding the cure for cancer or something.

I don't quite know. My understanding is that you can find spiritual thinking in day-to-day life. Rather than focusing your life on spirituality.

I feel survival is the real purpose of life. All the evaluation process is based on survival. As we don't have much struggle to survive now we are thinking about all those superficial things likes jobs, dreams, goals and money. But as a species we are here to survive and reproduce.

If our purpose as humans is survival, there would be no difference between animals and us. We evolved to have significantly higher mental skills, and there should be a reason why we have these capabilities and the purpose of it.
