java -- if ur ready to pull ur sleves to work hard and read few books, u have to keep learning in java to stay up in the market.

.net -- if u want to get a job very quickly and when u don't have much time to read on.


Remember, java is future and hence .net is also future(as microsoft is very good copy cat in industry, copies every good feature from java). So, hence, for good career wise, both java or .net are good.

P.S. : I personally advice to study .net as u can master .net in matter of weeks, hardly 2 or 3 weeks(def. not more than that)

presently i'm training in .net,  my suggestion is to go with SHAREPOINT SERVER.....go with this u will be having  a good futuure......
