I think 16,500 is a mere exaggeration. 

 

may be 5000 or so per renewal and thats for 3 years, so about $2000 per year

Initial application ki ekkuva untadi.. Renewal wont cost that much 

 

May be H-1B dependent employer ayithe, it might increase
