without a phd from US university, it will be close to impossible to get post doc here

how many publications did he do, if he did his phd from laila college.. it cannot be marketable.. use the first option to come again for PhD in US, if not start loking for entry level jobs in US

PhD in India is not easily marketable in US unless they had lot of publications (at least 4-5) on their name

not as decent as Software field.. hardly 40-50k vaste great initial stages..anything more than this should come from additional grants that depends on the actual industry/govt funded research projects

NIH minimum pay for postdoc is 48k, but if you get into a good University, you get 60-70k and more research funding if you apply for other grants/fellowships. In Govt. labs you get up to 100k.

Well, many labs are filled up with Ph.Ds from abroad. I know at least three, who got Ph.D from NIMHANS and who came here to post doc. Now GCs as well, still working as researchers in some labs. I just looked at her salary from a public database: $39K per annum in the mid west.
