Large wildfires across central and southern Mexico have blanketed the capital in a smoky haze. The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis, which includes five states, issued an environmental contingency plan after measuring pollution levels hazardous to health at different monitoring stations. The commission is urging people to avoid outdoor activities.
