European Union fines five major banks over one billion euros for currency exchange cartel

Barclays, JPMorgan, RBS, Citigroup and MUFG have agreed to pay a total fine of about 1.07 billion euros ($1.2 billion) for participating in foreign exchange spot trading cartels. Traders shared sensitive information through online chatrooms, the European Commission says.
