Why can’t be India proud of its Hinduism ?

I never said I am proud of my religion. I am proud of my values. In most cases, religion is used to teach values, but you can teach someone values without a religion. Important to make the distinction.

to distinguish culture and religion is very hard. to that, I'll present to you TamilNadu, which recently voted against BJP.

what did they vote for? They vote for Tamil identity. and the manifestations of this ethnic cultural identity is as dangerous as hindutva. the leaders that propagate this sh1t are worse than Modi.

and one of the guy who propagates this (Seeman, who'll soon be very popular if he's not already), starts with saying, Hindu gods are not our gods. They are all north Indian gods. Our god is Murugan (karthikeya).. okay fine until now.

then someone from the crowd asks him, what about tamil muslims, who's their god? He thinks for a while, and says he'll accept Murugan too as his god. haha..

these are the people who push culture over religion, just saying. the distinction is very hard to make, and equally pernicious in real life politics.

For instance, me and my fiance grew up in different parts of the world, with different religions, different cultures, but with the same values. As long as people realize that your values are what determine who you're and your culture, religion is used as a tool to bring "a better you" people won't use religion as a manifestation to make bigotry comments and use it as a political tool.

Bcoz ppl in India are confused souls. They want everything but don't accept or embrace what they have. They also try to keep up with latest trends and show that they are superior and highly adaptable for anything but never like to accept their limitations and detach from their roots. you are so innocent.

I've seen enough of india, from the dirtiest slums (where I lived) to most hi-brow places. you can call me judgmental, but it stunk of caste - which you so respectfully call as culture.

I'm happy you've found some values to stick to. but I can't get myself to theorize these values after my experiences in india for the past 5yrs.

p.s. I previously lived in India for 8yrs until my early teens, and was born outside India. this is my first extensive look into the underbelly of the 'culture' of India. i really really love India, but not for its culture. I think there's some dynamism among people in india, especially the big cities, but lets not talk about values.

and Hinduism, I don't find it much. except as an afterthought.

'Hinduism' is a false religion; Hindus worship 'false' gods, which are incarnations of Devil. False religion and immorality go hand in hand. That's why Hindus are devil worshippers, immoral, corrupt, 'terrorists', 'criminals'. That's how the story goes.

I would encourage the same from a local chaiwala, because his praise sometimes stems from appreciation of the little life he's made for himself amidst all this chaos.
