'Executed' North Korean diplomat is alive and in custody, new report suggests

Kim Hyok Chol, the North Korean diplomat who South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo previously said was executed by firing squad is alive and in state custody, according to a new CNN report. Sources told CNN that the ex-spy chief and lead nuclear negotiator was not sentenced to forced labor, but instead “kept silently in his office writing statements of self-criticism.”
