Vibhu MORE-IN Nipah Virus Four others are suspected to have been infected with the virus. One case of Nipah virus was confirmed by Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shylaja on Tuesday. And the 23-year-old college student has been admitted to the Kalamassery Medical College. Four others were also suspected to have been infected with the virus and they have been quarantined. Of them, two are nurses, one is a relative of the confirmed case and the other an acquaintance. Body fluid samples of the suspected cases have been sent to the virology institutes at Alappuzha, Manipal and Pune. A six-member expert team from various institutes under the Union governmentM had arrived in Kochi for supervision. The Union government had given permission to use immunoglobulin-monoclonal anti-body, if necessary. Steps have also been taken to procure more of these anti-bodies from Australia. Other medicines and equipment were being provided by the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Ltd.
