tacobell fan Posted June 5, 2019 Report Posted June 5, 2019 06/05/2019: Acting USCIS Director, Mark Koumans, Effective 06/01/2019 As we reported on 04/09/2019, there was a news release that there would be replacement of the USCIS Director, who reportedly notified the USCIS staff himself of his resignation, effective June 1, 2019. USCIS then released a report on its website on 06/03/2019, Monday, that the position is taken by a new Acting Director, Mr. Mark Koumans, who had been working with another division of the DHS. The President apparently nominated another candidate for the position, but reportedly Senate Republicans are strongly opposing his nominee and reject the Senate confirmation of the nominee. Accordingly, the Acting Director is likely to lead the USCIS for a while. Immigration community hopes that Mr. Koumans take certain actions to remove huge backlogs in adjudication of pending applications and petitions as well as opening the decision making process with increased accomodation of immigration stakeholders for their inputs. Employers have been desperately waiting for the USCIS to update the "pending employment-based I-485 inventory data" which have remained in darkeness more than 10 months. Over the years, the USCIS had been updated the data every three or four months! Quote
