Or change will come around by having more women pursue STEM fields and making little girls dream beyond Barbie dolls? the world you are railing against, and the world you want to aspire for are just two different faces of the same system. girls are encouraged to aspire to look pretty and dress up, just so they can satisfy fantasies of powerful men, who use girls in STEM to make their money to afford those barbie dolls. one can't exist without the other. I mean, without the existence of barbie dolls to serve at a powerful man's pleasure for a cost, most men won't give a fcuk about investing in STEM. girls/guys should be free to pursue their dreams, and that's what feminists fight for. in fact, feminists explicitly discourage barbie princess stuff, and its the RW patriarchs who want girls to make that choice. not feminists. BDurruti Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 feminists rail against the entire system. yes, they chose wrong targets, they make lousy arguments, because they don't understand it well. nobody does. They are doing the best they can within the limited scope of their movement. most of them do face social backlash, exclusion, denigration among peers. I don't understand why anyone should die though. what feminists do (good or bad) is a data point to study how the system interacts with dissent, and how it crushes it or absorbs its criticisms. life is a never ending study of nature. an individual is just an infinitesimally useful cog in the observation. every single human being has something to contribute, just on account of being one. that alone is enough. I said that if you fail to realize your true potential, then it's not worth living. Again, you are the only judge that determines what your true potential is. instead of dying, they are fighting the system to allow for them to realize their true potential. lets take for eg. that girl in TN who killed herself because she was denied a chance to become a doctor, after a national wide entrance test was made mandatory for TN (which was exempted before). She studied, worked hard, she lived in a makeshift tent and studied under street lights, and got the marks that would allow her to get into a medical college. only about 30 such kids (studying out of govt schools) out of 5000 get into medical colleges. but Indian govt forced TN to accept a NEET to admit kids, and she couldn't compete with other kids who paid 4lakhs for special tuition classes. guess what, the next 2yrs not a single kid from a govt school made it to medical college in TN, this, after TN govt spent the last 30yrs working with educators to create infrastructure to bring kids like her into the professional fold. one move from central govt, and all was gone, includin the infra carefully built by TN. She fought hard for it. She went to supreme court to ask NEET be canceled. and one fine day, she took her life. do you think she made the right choice? should she have made more noise? should she have magically prepared for NEET too, from her shack? do you realize that most of the doctors that work in rural areas in TN (which has comparatively superior healthcare in India, with govt owning a lot of good hospitals), are doctors like her? TN govt literally makes them sign bonds to work for the state for 3yrs even after pg, just to maintain their infrastructure. and now everything is gone. should one fight against this system, or just sulk and die because one didn't get a medical seat? You dodge one, you get another. But it's never right to give up. When I should "they should just die", I meant people that won't try. Quote

That would be more a human right violation if you ask me. What I saying is that women should put in more effort than men to prove themselves, because the world is biased the way it is. Quote
pootareku Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 Women are very precious they shouldn’t be oppressed or suppressed but protected all the time. I feel they are like little children who dream of a colourful life with someone who cares their feelings. Women are successful already. My mother made me what I am today. My sister imparted sense of responsibility. My wife/gf will teach me how to care. Women teach you how to live. Quote
