20 day toddler bludgeoned to death by goons in ahmedabad

In a gory incident which took place late on Friday night at Meghaninagar area of the city, a group of five to six goons armed with wooden logs and iron pipes created havoc in the area and bludgeoned to death a 20-day toddler who was sleeping in her mother's lap.

The child was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Meghaninagar police swung into action and arrested two of the local goons Hitesh Marwadi and Satish Patni while other accused are still on the run.

Heavy police bandobast including one Police Inspector, three sub inspectors and about 80 policemen have been deployed in the area.

According to the FIR lodged by Laxmi Patni (45), she and her daughters were sleeping outside their house in Meghaninagar on Thursday night.

At about 11.30pm a group of persons including the two accused rushed in with wooden logs and iron pipes and started hitting people. "Satish who wanted to establish his supremacy in the area hit the 20-day toddler with wooden log on his head. He was taken to civil hospital but was declared dead. We registered a case of murder against the gang and have arrested two accucsed" said Police Inspector PG Sarvaiya of Meghaninagar police station.
