Manufacturing lo India can't compete with other countries. Thanks to all the welfare schemes. Labour is not that cheap in India

who said so? india can't compete in certain industries. like electronics, semiconductors, because the supply chain is complicated, and requires a huge clusters of such industries to already exist to make them cheap. its not because of labour cost in india.

welfare schemes tho neekenti badha? manusulu thinatam ishtam ledha?

I've run a manufacturing firm in india. labour is still cheap in India.

I'm in India to start another manuf firm. welfare schemes asalu, aa thought ela osthadi saar.

labour is like dead cheap in India. I can hire an electronic assembly line worker for just 10k as fresher, 20k for exp with all benefits.. and hire on contract for just 17k. If I go outside TamilNadu (which i  wont), the rate drops further.

similar job in china will cost around 3000yuan per month, which is about 50% more expensive than india.

chepthey cheppanu antav. this is the example of an arrogant uppercaste attitude I was talking about.

welfare schemes are an addition to people's incomes, and help them live with dignity. it won't make people stop working, or demand more than what the market can take.

Naku oka doubt vastundi. Here is my understanding

1) IT industry is pretty much surviving on USDINR conversion rate for the past decade or so.

2) USDINR exchange rate is in favour of OT industry because of Crude oil imports

Now, what's going to happen in 10-15 years from now:

With Electric vehicles becoming mainstream (to help with Imports of Crude oil, help pollution), our crude oil imports will drop significantly and that will strengthen INR

Once INR strengthens, the IT industry will have a tough time to compete in cost when compared to other countries and so may not be able to grow further and may even suffer

When that happens, what could be the next big thing for India's growth?

very valid concerns

this is what i think is gonna happen to india

China is saturated, china is now into big league possibly into US's second cold war player

there is AI war going on between China and US, India is just watching as a spectator..it is more socialistic now than ever in the past, socialist policies never helped us in the past and will never help us in future

India will play the role of replacing china in manufacturing and resource exploitation by the west, if there is anything actually left for someone to exploit

Whether we like it or not, we will end up playing second fiddle to US, US will throw bones at us and try to play us as counterweight to China

overall, I am optimistic that India will improve but not to an extent that we may go back due to rapid development
