Its much easier to argue like you do, without context, just to trip the other person.

in reality, a nation exists to serve its constituents (provinces, cities, corporations, individuals). suppose a province in a nation wants to admit refugees (for whatever reason), its the nation's duty to conduct a thorough investigation of its possibility through dialogue from other constituents and find a way.

a 'nation' cannot dictate to its constituents. we are not living under monarchy. the refugee situation is caused by a nation dictating (politicians forming committees and deciding the admit so and so number of people), and when one constituent (people) are not satisfied there's blowback, and the nation again takes a unilateral decision to revoke its decision to admit immigrants.

you trying to draw parallel between the working of a nation (a loose coalition of different constituents) and an individual's property is just idiotic. a person is free to do as he pleases in society as long as he doesn't harm another person.

If you are saying that if people who call for immigration open their doors to refugees, they are welcome, then its an easy thing to accomplish for activists. They can band together, and people like me can pitch in house 100s of thousands of refugees inside any country.

These decisions are not taken in a vacuum, nor are they taken out of large heartedness. They are mostly based on need.

modern economy works only when its constantly expanding, and expansion is possible only with infusion of new people into its system.

US gets it from all over the world, Europe doesn't, Japan doesn't.

China and south east asia haven't yet achieved western levels of economy, so they still have some way to go before they have to attract immigrants to stay relevant.

I know you'll say, let the govt attract 'high quality' immigrants. again, the economy shows no difference between the 'quality' of an immigrant. So its cheaper to invite poor immigrants. and that's why Germany strongarmed EU to let so many immigrants in.

so admitting and refusing refugees is an issue that has to seriously discussed.

There's no economy in the world that can expand without growing its population. take whatever hi-tech economy you can think of.
