A Fourth of July fireworks show was cut short after a suspicious package caused a disturbance. Crowds scattered after police interrupted the show, but officials said they did not order an evacuation. The package was deemed to be safe.

My poor Lulu cat hasn’t slept for 2 nights now due to the fireworks, LOL. She stares at the sky through the window from the cat tree, then a rocket goes up in the sky sounding “Coouuiiiii”, she gets frightened and runs into the closet. After a while she gathers courage to return to the cat tree again staring at the sky and waiting anxiously for the next rocket. This is going on for 2 nights now - poor baby hasn’t slept since Jul 3 night and I can clearly see that she is extremely tired and exhausted from sleep deprivation  :(

I hug her, squeeze her and tell her, “Lulu, that’s just fireworks for fun and celebration - once in a year. They won’t hurt you” but the young lady wouldn’t get comforted.

Who should I complain this to?

(Fireworks should be banned for the sake of 🐈s)

It's best to start early exposing young puppies and kittens to “many different environmental stimuli so that this is not scary later in life,” she said. “Recordings of thunderstorms are available that could be played at a low volume to 'normalize' the experience of hearing these noises and hopefully avoid future anxiety.”

I took it a step further leading up to a massive fireworks show in our hometown of Louisville and played YouTube videos of fireworks shows around my two dogs until they found them completely boring.

Dogs are trainable. But cats are so terribly untrainable - we cannot even walk a cat. They are independent and don’t want to obey or be someone’s dog! The only bad-as$ and fearless cats are the stray/homeless cats or those raised at a shelter, etc.

They think they are wise and we humans are silly. Well, figure this - if we are silly and they are wise, how come they go bonkers over a string or a laser light which are not real toys and chasing them crazy to catch them and kill them like hunters??
