GucciGang Posted July 6, 2019 Report Posted July 6, 2019 Developer website for Google Fuchsia quietly goes live It is no secret that Google is quietly working on a modern operating system (OS) dubbed as “Fuchsia” for some years now. While there has been news about the development of Fuchsia OS project on and off, it was finally confirmed by Google that it is indeed working on the open-source project at its I/O developer conference this May. Google has now officially launched the Fuchsia OS developer website, fuchsia.dev, which was first spotted by Android Police. The website notes that Fuchsia OS is an “open source operating system”. However, it also clarifies that “Fuchsia is not Linux” in the System Documentation section of the site. “[It is] a modular, capability-based operating system.” Fuchsia is powered by a microkernel called “Zircon,” which is written mostly in C++ and also provides core drivers and Fuchsia’s lib implementation. While the new documentation site is live with a set of instructions and the logo of Fuchsia, it doesn’t give an idea as to how Fuchsia OS will look like or how it would operate. It hardly comes with new information and the instructions seem similar like the previous Fuchsia Git albeit now with a Google-owned domain. The new website contains basic information such as Getting Started guide, Code of Conduct, Glossary, and instructions on how to build/test apps for Fuchsia, which is aimed at helping developers to get started with the new OS and even help them in developing apps if they are inclined towards it. With Google making the new documentation officially live for Fuchsia OS, we can expect more information to be added in the coming months. Keep watching this space for more updates! Quote
