If you are smart enough like @uttermost, you can win over a debate and prove money and materials does not matter. But you see every where people are behind these. And human being is a social animal. He can't live like a saint leaving this societal drama. Rather they form groups with identical people.

If you are highly smart and does not make any money out of it. You are still called Stupid. Money matters. Period. Less anxiety, more healthy, happy life. If you spend all your energy meeting basic needs, how would you grow up. And this is the reason, poor remains same. Rich becomes richer. A rational thinker would always look forward to be better than today. 

Apart from all these, you can always date more people, expand your options, see someone you really like, who thinks similar like you, agrees with your sense of reasoning. Don't get stuck here. Be smart. Be rational. Keep working on yourself.
