In a mega decision, Andhra Pradesh's YSR Congress government lead by its chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has passed a law to provide 75 per cent reservation to local youths in all private companies taken up under PPP model in the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries/Factories Act, 2019 was passed on Monday during the ongoing budget session of the assembly.

Now, private industries/ factories, joint ventures and projects under public-private partnership mode are required to reserve 75 per cent of the jobs for the local candidates.

According to a statement by the government, "This will help the person who has lost their lands and their occupations for facilitating the establishment of industries and other unemployed youth by ensuring that their livelihoods are guaranteed and sustained."

During his state-wide Prajasankalp Padyatra before the election, the YSRCP chief and current chief minister of the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to provide jobs to locals.

The law also ensure skill development with the help of companies in collaboration of government to provide the skilled human resource.
