It is partly true because they altered the lyrics and inserted some lines (eg. vale vale varasala). But the fact remains that the song itself is heavily lift from his keerthana and the original composer was Garimella Balakrishna Prasad whose tune was used in the movie

Vetti valapu is wrongly attributed to Annamayya. It was in fact written by his son Tallapaka Pedda Tirumalacharya. He was a poet and composer in his own right. He also wrote govindasrita gokulabrinda fyi

Well, its not subject to argument since its a fact. The sankeerthana bhandaram has clear documented proof of who wrote what among the 3 Tallapaka poets, thanks to Tallapaka Chinnayya who wrote a detailed biography of his grandfather (Annamayya) and preserved a good amount of keerthanas (although we lost more than what we preserved)
