Your employer has to still provide a letter stating that they couldn't find someone local so they had to hire you, although it's easier to get that than apply for a visa and wait for it's approval.

Yes because there's no minimum wage requirement like H1B and it's not that strictly enforced, YET .All this might change but as of now, it's not a bad route. However most of the people that had a TN ended up working for some mestri in contract positions, companies aren't very willing to offer FTs to TN candidates now a days.

Plus there's no waiting period like it is for H1B(April-Oct). You can get a TN visa approved at the US Canada border.

However, unlike the H1B visa which can be granted upto 3 years in time a TN has to be renewed once every year(max length).

The TN Visa is a one-year visa. U.S. Immigration recently passed a ruling to increase this to 3 years. Ensure you know how to write your TN Visa Employer Letter so the Immigration Officer gives you a TN Visa that is valid for 3 years. In essence a renewalapplication is treated like a new TN Visa Application.
