Given 1.2B population, being in USA makes one super unique. So, people want to flaunt that. It is just like getting first mark in local high school. There is no difference between the latter and "being in USA"--at least psychologically. Next time, observe your friends, your relatives, your colleagues, and yourself as well: you can see the way people try to show how 'unique' they are. Quote

When one boasts about his son's job at Google, California, his poor neighbor pricks the former's happiness, thereby deriving his own pleasure, by telling that his distant relative is a VP at Facebook, making $1M a year. The drama in one line: people derive pleasure by boasting themselves, or by throwing arrows at others' boastings. Quote
