Woman's 'unhinged' in-laws sneak mushrooms into every meal - despite her severe allergy

One woman recently opened up about her own allergy in an incredibly heartfelt letter to an advice columnist. The shocking letter to The Cut's Ask Polly column has gone viral on Twitter and prompted a discussion about gaslighting and narcissism, as the writer, known only as ‘Disrespected Daughter-In-Law' described how her in-laws repeatedly dismiss her allergy. The woman outlines the severity of her allergy, stating that she once “began convulsing in the ambulance on the way to the hospital”, and emphasises that her husband has explained this numerous times to his parents. But despite this, her in-laws now add mushrooms to almost every dish they make for her, even going as far as to sneakily add "mushroom powder to the mashed potatoes". The woman says the situation has gotten so out of hand that she and her husband no longer attend family meals. However, her in-laws still find way to try and dismiss her allergy.
