Is the universe infinite?

our local group is gravitationally bound. after some milllion years , the galaxy groups will be so far due to expansion that even light cannot reach . at that time if someone is observing the universe , they can only see our local group and think it is the boundary of the universe. scary to think what else is hidden.

Anduke antunanu .... we might be Not looking far enough or may be not the right direction.... Until proven yes we can assume its infinte.... 

Even it is of a different shape, direction would not matter. The distance maybe too high but there will be a curvature. It is not about looking. It is about observing the curvature. Imagine putting a bulb inside an orb, the light would be reflecting inside it and giving off signals. Currently there is no signal or signs of a curvature. Is there an inherent property we missed to find it? I am not sure, but could be.

It is not about traveling to the end and finding the edge though. Certain things can be observed. May be our science has not matured enough to find it without going long distances. Can we even find the edge if it is infinite?

Yes.. But we are talking about size of the universe.. Even though our local group is bounded by gravity , there is a a point in the universe where Space time are no longer interrealatedOR cannot be measured in quantities ( Singularity )..  Even light cannot escape from this singularity - So we really dont know the size and the reach of the universe for now

That is not how the universe designed us though. Knowledge is passed on to the next generation and we are continually adding to it. What if the future is now and we can find it in our lifetimes itself? The current observations are talking about an infinite universe instead of a defined one proposed few years ago.
