I think it depends on region, yasa (  similar to vitta or rahul basha/yasa in BB house)

Not only this, I heard many sentences like,

To cook food,

I say - ( cooker lo annam pettu),

My room mates says - cooker lo annam padeyi

To turnoff PC or TV

I say - TV Bandh cheyyi

My room mates says - TV katteyi, or TV padeyi

That's the common usage in our area, because "eppudu paarestaru" is neutral wrt whether the body is buried or burned. If every one uses the same expression in certain areas,  I don't see any unethical about it.
