Mid Manair dam being filled up by KLIS

Mid Manair project was incepted in 2006 but works didn’t move until 2014, KCR cancelled IVRCL contract and increased the capacity from 6TMC to 26 TMC. Construction was fast tracked and completed within a period of 17 months. Initially planned for only drinking water needs to source from sriram sagar project but sriram sagar itself is in dire need of water as there are no inflows from upper godavari due to babli and other maharastra projects. Kaleshwaram is the saving grace as everyone is hopeful that KLIS will supplement and fill 90tmc in sriram sagar and 25 tmc in mid maniar this year

 

Also one misunderstood notion is that KLIS will consume 5000 crores of electricity..that is the max limit and worst case scenario i.e. if they have to lift all 400 tmc of water.

But the best case scenario is that they need not turn on motors in link 1 and link2 for example if sriram sagar receives water through flood canal, it will supplement itself and will automatically  feed mid manair and low manair projects also.

Couple of weeks ago in link 1, yellampally received water through flood and they turned off the motors in medigadda and sundilla
