It was their 17-year-old, Class X fail, runaway son Ajay, who had not been seen or heard from since leaving home on August 17. “At least, we know he is safe,” the boy’s father, Swaroop Singh who runs a sweet shop in Begumganj, told TOI on Friday.
Ajay, who is repeating Class X, left for school as usual on August 17, but did not return home. Swaroop looked around for him, checked with friends and family, and then filed a missing person’s report at Begumganj police station. “He left home without any cash, but took an ATM card. He wasn’t carrying a phone, either. We learnt later that he had used the ATM card to buy a mobile phone at a mall in Bhopal,” said the father.
