‘3 Idiots’ remake confirmed

At a time when a lot of buzzes are doing rounds about the Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’, director of the Bollywood blockbuster Raju Hirani has confirmed that the film is being remade in south Indian languages.

Speaking at the DVD launch of the Aamir Khan starrer in Mumbai, the filmmaker said, “The movie will be soon made in Telugu and Tamil. But I don’t know who will play the lead there.”

“I think they (producers and director of the Tamil version) are currently in the process of casting,” Hirani said and added that he has no plans to make a sequel to ‘3 Idiots’. “I am not with that idea,” he said.

There were reports that a popular production house has acquired the remake rights of ‘3 Idiots’ and Shankar will direct both the Telugu and Tamil versions. “While Mahesh Babu will replace Aamir Khan in Telugu, Vijay will play the role in Tamil,” reports said.
