Bank Letter confirming you have enough funds so that you are no dependent on anyone, Invitation letter (preferably a letter from someone in Canada), pay stubs, letter from employer confirming you are working for them or I-120 for student and mail these to nearest Canadian consulate along with passport. They give visa until the passport expiry date (most likely).

invitation letter not needed. but i think they will ask for itinerary for your trip.
