you are 100% correct. 
New drains are basically getting linked to the existing drainage system. All the hitec city/madhapur got linked to Banjara nala just few years ago. Adi inka existing drainage system paina burden vestunnadi.

2014 varaku madapur la underground  drainage system ledu, cheppkunte siggupotadi..TRS government vachina taruvata they expedited linking the underground system to Bnajara nala but they still lack the storm water drains(everything is being let into banjara nala for now)
