The core city will just be like this for decades to come and nothing can be done. It’s geography and terrain apart from decades of negligence by governments. Quote

It does not appear to be so simple....pay the compensation and take land..!! There is no rule for fair compensation. Imagine if there are 100 dwellers along the road and government wants to acquire these properties for civic amenities, even if 2-3 people are not satisfied and go to court, then the whole project gets delayed. Government and corporations did many policies to improve this situation but in vain, even for Metro Land acquisition, it got delayed by two years. Finally, HMR gave additional 2-3 floor approval in exchange of land and then it took more than year to complete the process. Acquiring public property is a big challenge in a india especially when Land is such.an expensive thing now...no one wants to part way Quote

Two points here. Because of crazy high prices of real estate, working out high budgets for such projects is expensive for government. Second even if government gives fair compensation , businesses won't be happy with such expansions since it will cause permanent loss of their future income. Not all businesses can relocate that easily to new locations. Businesses know they will lose in the court but they still go-to court since it will buy them few years time. This is the case with road expansion being stalled near my home in Hyderabad. Quote

Acquiring public property is a big challenge in a india especially when Land is such.an expensive thing now...no one wants to part way on what grounds can the dwellers go to court man , without owning the land legitimately ... even if they own it legitimately, the court will simply ask the govt to pay the compensation .... u just cant simply stop the road widening work if u think the govt is being unfair to u .... even before they start with the road widening works , the government makes a list of all the people that they should be paying off and raises a bill to the govt to authorize the officials to pay off the people that are affected .... best example are the buildings on 100ft road in madapur , TRS govt demolished all the buildings that are not according to the norms , and nobody could even do anything about it because its their fault for building them against the norms Quote
