depends on how long you want that vehicle to last.

if you want to use it for 2-3 yrs and not lose much value and yoiur usage will be minimum and you had maintenance to be minimum 
i suggest accord as suggested above or civic/corolla type.

finding a single owner in that price bracket might be difficult but try that first before expanding out of that option.
