Right wing hindutva nationalism is aimed at protection of Hindus in India , which should be a Hindu nation ( predominantly ) . Since 1947  secular congress party  won many elections and what did we achieve all those years ? It was involved in many scandals and they never protected Hindus in the nation ( eg: kashmiri pandits ) . BJP emerged as a strong opponent and came to power basing on the right wing Hindutva . People trusted bjp ( atleast Hindus ) , as they felt more secured under bjp rule unlike the secular  congress party
