tamu Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 It is time for the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government to decide the fate of Amaravati as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh as the expert committee headed by retired IAS officer G N Rao is all set to finalise its report in a week or two. The deadline fixed by the G N Rao committee headed for gathering views of public on the location or relocation of Amaravati as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh will conclude on Tuesday. “The committee will record all the opinions on the capital and also its own observations made during its extensive tour across Andhra Pradesh. Based on the suggestions and majority peoples’ opinions, the committee will submit its report and the government will take a call on the same,” an official said. On Monday, the G N Rao committee held a meeting with several farmers of the Amaravati capital region and requested him to retain the area as the capital. They urged the committee to see that the decision of the previous Telugu Desam Party government to develop plots in the capital region be implemented immediately. They expressed view that the talk of shifting capital from Amaravati was just a speculation and there is no truth in it. “It is a political campaign. We are confident that the capital will remain in Amaravati and the government will address to all their problems,” he said. Quote
