The constitution came into force on January 26, 1950. Constitution Day was first celebrated four years ago in 2015, when the government decided to mark the day as a tribute to BR Ambedkar, who played an important role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. The constitution day is also known as the samvidhan divas. Quote

The Constitution Day was first celebrated in 2015 as a mark of tribute to India's first law minister Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Constitution. The declaration regarding the same was made by PM Narendra Modi on October 11, 2015, while laying the foundation stone of Statue of Equality in Mumbai. Quote
