Australia records its hottest-ever day for the second day in a row

According to a preliminary analysis by the Bureau of Meteorology, Australia recorded its hottest day on record on Wednesday with a nationally-averaged maximum daytime temperature of 41.9 degrees Celsius (107.4 degrees Fahrenheit). It was a full degree higher than the previous record of 40.9 degrees, which was set the day before.
