AP govt cancels Vizag Metro Financial bid

While on one hand, the YSRCP government in AP is giving hints that Vizag would become the capital, it is taking decision that damages the beach city's image. In a fresh move, the Jagan government has cancelled the Vizag Metro Financial bid. Essel Infra consortium was the only one which filed the bid.

In the year 2015-16, then TDP government proposed to develop metro in Vizag and also prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) with an estimation of Rs 12,500 crore. Initially the government assigned Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to develop this project but wanted it to be a Public Private Partnership (PPP). But DMRC was not convinced with PPP method and so backed out of it. Since then Vizag Metro was in pending.

After coming to power, YSRCP government took up this in their first budget. The government has asked for a new DRP and a new consultancy is given the responsibility. Also the government wants to invite bids by open tenders and Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation is likely to look after the tenders.

Well, the DPR will certainly take time and so the project further gets delayed. So Vizag people should wait for some more time which is a disappointment.

It was clear no, Vizag Metro project was somewhere backtracked or bids are not clear. Govt. bids ni cancel chesi malli kotha bids ni pilusthadi
