religion tells something about you and your lifestyle (that you go to temple and you don't eat beef)
caste doesn't say anything about your life style (it used to indicate your profession, but not anymore)... so asking that question or answering it is lame!

Yes u did missed a lot. You can see that most the topics started by the so called topic starter points only to a particular caste people.


And ur wrong in saying caste doesn't speak of life style. Infact, it does. For example, brahmins don't eat non-veg whereas other caste people do. If you look at other religions, catholics worship mother mary, others sects or castes of christians don't.

Sunni muslims believe final prophet as muhammed, where as shia muslims have different story.

So, caste does speak of life style in every religion. Its just that ur unable to see it.

It baffles me the way you understood it.  I don't think I made any derogatory comment  on SC/ST. Its just the way you look it.

I gave a couple of examples, if you will...
People who believe in Hinduism have a different lifestyle than a Muslim.
But a caste A person == caste B person, in every which way.

I believed before coming to the US (based on my limited world then) that our generation ends this caste saga as everyone is educated enough to realize it is useless, but surprisingly, I found its not true in the US!!!

and about brahim, I was very sure someone will bring it up... will that hold for every caste combination?
I would treat a Muslim, Hindu and Christian differently if I have to host them and so will find about their religion. Will you treat people differently based on their caste. I hope not.
