actually for freewheeling conversations, chat rooms are much better.

If you want to stick to a topic during the conversations, you can add separate rooms for each topic that can be archived after the room starter wishes to end the conversation.

so one main chat room where people simply talk about anything under the sun, and a list of rooms on the right that they can enter into and talk.

ofcourse ability to reply to specific posts will be available.

The protocol for all is available right now. even for voice and video thrown in the mix. in all opensource.

earlier IRC used to serve this purpose, but it was rudimentary and lacked a lot of features. now ejabberd is a customizable server that can be repurposed to implement this, along with mumble for voice chat.

its what discord is already. hehe..

I just thought one discord server could host all the fcuking rooms that is needed to.

but I don't think you can start rooms in discord and have it viewable by others. you'll have to invite people into your room.

I should explore discord more

I tried Matrix, but it is unreliable. s0rrry. need something better than that.
