Within minutes of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy making a sensational statement that Telugu Mahila president Roja was interested in joining the Congress, the Congress Legislature Party leaders have begun consolidating evidences to buttress his statement.

The CLP leaders confirmed that Roja had, indeed, tried to get into the Congress before the recent Assembly elections. “She sent her relatives to former TTD chairman Karunakar Reddy and even spoke to him personally, requesting for a Congress ticket. But that did not materialise. We have recorded her conversation with Karunakar Reddy,” the CLP leaders said.

Even the Chief Minister is now willing to take Roja into the Congress and is ready to give her the AP Mahila Commission chairperson post, they said.
