US designates Chinese state-run media as foreign missions over propaganda concerns

The State Department on Tuesday said that the US operations of five Chinese news organizations — Xinhua News Agency, China Radio International, China Global Television Network and the distributors of China Daily and People’s Daily — will be considered foreign diplomatic missions. The move will require the outlets to register their employees and US properties with the State Department.
