Australia is now operating as though COVID-19 is a pandemic

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has implemented Australia’s emergency response plan to deal with Coronavirus, meaning the country is “effectively operating on the basis that there is” a pandemic. Morrison said the government made the decision out of “an abundance of caution” in anticipation of WHO declaring a pandemic. He said the nation is prepared and people can still go to mass gatherings or “out for a Chinese meal.”
