I had the same problem with too much rice and not enough flavor, especially with the fish options. Reminded me of trying devonport restaurants back home where I ended up ordering sides just to fill up. In Japan, I started mixing convenience store salads or snacks with dinner to feel full without loading up completely on rice. The food looks fancy but isn’t always filling.
