Spain has the world's second-highest death toll after Italy, with the virus so far claiming 10,003 lives although the rate of new infections and deaths continued its downward trend, the health ministry figures showed. Kool_SRG Posted April 2, 2020 Author Report Share Posted April 2, 2020 Israel's Health Minister tests positive for coronavirus, Mossad chief and NSA quarantined Israel's Health Minister Yaakov Litzman has been put into isolation after being tested positive for COVID-19, pushing all the top officials, including Mossad chief Yossi Cohen and National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabbat, at the forefront of fight against the deadly virus into self-quarantine. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier gone into self isolation after a close aide was found to have contracted the Virus, but he has so far tested negative. Litzman and his wife, who also has contracted the virus, are in isolation, feeling well and are being treated, the health ministry said in a statement, adding that it will request all those who came in contact with the minister in the past two weeks to also do the same. Kool_SRG Posted April 2, 2020 Author Report Share Posted April 2, 2020 No new overnight coronavirus cases in Karnataka: Govt No new Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka overnight while the total number of infections in the state stood at 110 on Thursday, Department for Health and Family Welfare said. "No new cases have been reported from 5.00 pm of 1st April 2020 to 10 am of 2nd April 2020," the department said in its mid-day situation report. It said, till date 110 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed, and this includes 3 deaths and 10 discharges. Among the 110 positive cases mentioned by the department, 48 were from Bengaluru, 19 from Mysuru, nine from Chikkaballapura and Dakshina Kannada, eight from Uttara Kannada, four from Kalaburgai, three each from Davangere, Udupi and Ballari, two from Tumakuru, and one each from Kodagu and Dharwad. He said, "I had fever after visit to a relative's place in Habibpur. Villagers here didn't allow me to enter the village. On doctor's advice to quarantine for 14 days, I took shelter on the boat." Testing labs would come up one in Guntur and the other in Kadapa taking the total to six. The State has testing facilities in Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kakinada and Ananthapur.Work is in progress at Visakhapatnam for another centre, The two new centers will function from April 3 and 4, State Nodal Officer Sr Arja Srikanth said. With the growing number of cases more number samples can be tested. Meanwhile, at a review meeting held here it was decided to supply 2500 PPEs (Personal Protection Equipment) to Covid hospitals. Discussions were held in a review meeting regarding the supply of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to doctors who are working in hospitals. Health Department Special Principal Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy has inspected the equipment. The samples of PPE masks have been trialed and 2500 PPEs will be supplied to COVID hospitals across the state. For the same, discussions were held with 90 GSM non-oven fabric suppliers for the manufacturing of PPEs. Of these, Mumbai has 57 cases, Pune has six, Pimpri Chinchwad has three, Ahmednagar has nine, Thane has five and Buldhana has one. The total cases in the state are 286 of which 256 are active cases, he said. "A pregnant woman from Kollam district is also among the 21 new COVID-19 positive cases in Kerala," he added. Eight cases have been reported from the Kasargode district, five from Idukki, two from Kollam, one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, and Thrissur. "75 have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu of which 74 are those who participated in the Tablighi Jamaat event.
