fever is an act of our body to fight foreign bodies. Foreign bodies multiply very fast and your body raises temperature to stop the growth or make it difficult for them to survive. Most times your body immune system wins with less fight but there are few foreign bodies which survive further. Your body can also hold only so long with temperature increase. Drugs like paracetamol reduces fever, relives body pains for our body to prolong fight against the virus...if your body is too weak to naturally heal then your are given anti virals which have a less than 50% chance of working..basically at this point it is trail and error with various anti viral medications
