In a rare televised address, German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged her country to "act in mutual solidarity" amid the Covid-19 pandemic, calling it the country's greatest challenge since the Second World War and the German reunification. Germany has over 10,000 confirmed cases with the country's top disease control official warning that that number could rise as high as 10 million in a few months without action.
